Fethard Castle is a national monument (RMP ref: WX050-011003). All works in connection with the recent landscaping were archaeologically monitored under Ministerial Consent under Section 14 of the National Monuments Acts. The consent reference numbers are C000959 and E005103. The excavation works have recently finished and a report is being prepared by archaeologist Catherine McLoughlin which will be submitted to the Department of Culture, Heritage & Gaeltacht in due course.
